Author tag and Google+ circles influence
I was conducting a search today for ‘Google buys Motorola’ and found something that I have not seen before.
In the SERPS (Search Engine Result Pages) I am starting to see images of the person who wrote the article, a link to their profile and the number of circles they are in.
Clearly then the recent freshness update coupled with Google+ Circles coupled with the Author Tag are playing a major part in where an article ranks. All this shows that Google is continuing to figure out how it can utilise Social signals in its ranking algorithm and any good SEO’er needs to take these signals into consideration when building an inbound link strategy.
