Google buys Rangespan
As part of Google buying EVERYTHING they just bought Rangespan.
Rangespan were founded in 2011 by former Amazon employees hence they get shopping!
Rangespan (up until now; they are in the process of ceasing all commercial agreements with the likes of Tesco and Asda) help clients use real-time sales data (aka BIG data) to improve market understanding (which products are hot and not) and thus their supply chain.
Without dissecting the purchase in detail, for me it just reinforces everything that was stated at the Google Ireland trip I attended last year = Google LOVES shopping / PLA’s and will do all it can to improve in this area.
